Receiving no federal or state funding, the Avian Reconditioning Center greatly appreciates any contributions. Our busiest time of year, when the majority of intakes occur, is baby season, spanning from January to July.
A single large bird, such as a great horned owl or red-tailed hawk, consumes about $500.00 worth of food during its stay with us.
Each young barred owl, red-shouldered hawk, Cooper's hawk, swallow-tailed kite, or Mississippi kite consumes about $350.00 worth of food during its stay with us.
A small bird, like an eastern screech owlet or young American kestrel, consumes about $200.00 worth of food during its stay with us.
In order to feed our 30+ resident ambassador birds and the numerous birds undergoing rehabilitation, it costs approximately $6,500.00 per month.
Supplies such as kennels, scrub brushes, litter pans, bleach, disinfectant, bandages, vet wrap, heavy-duty scissors, and spray bottles are always needed and appreciated.
As ARC expands, more enclosure space is needed to house birds undergoing rehabilitation and our education ambassador birds. We need construction materials and assistance with building enclosure spaces.
You can help The Avian Reconditioning Center by sponsoring one of our raptor residents through the Adopt-a-Bird program. Adoption sponsorship donations help us with the cost of food, housing supplies, medicine, and veterinary care for the birds at our facility. You can choose to sponsor any of our owls, falcons, hawks, kites, or eagles!
ARC offers wildlife programs to schools, scout troops, church groups, civic organizations, retirement centers, and other non-profits. Our programs focus on raptors, their natural history, and their importance to us and our environment. Program fees help to keep our doors open, care for injured raptors, and educate the public about these amazing animals.
